Frequently asked questions
What is the time limit for routines and when does the timing start and end?
The time limit for routines is as follows: Team categories have a maximum time limit of 2 1/2 minutes, while individual categories are limited to 1 1/2 minutes. The timing for each routine begins with the first sound or movement and concludes with the last sound or movement. Please note that the time spent entering or exiting the mat is not included in the routine's time duration. This ensures that participants have ample time to set up and clear the area without impacting their performance time.
What are the stunt guidelines?
We follow INFC guidelines for all stunts to ensure safety and compliance. This means only approved stunts are permitted during our events. If you are unsure about the legality of a particular stunt, please send a video of the stunt to info@cheerforacureok.com, and one of our experienced judges will review it to confirm whether it meets the guidelines. Safety is our top priority, so we appreciate your diligence in checking before your performance. Let's cheer enthusiastically while keeping everyone safe!
Are there rules or guidelines for tumbling?
For tumbling, there isn’t a specific chart or set rule — it falls under the coach’s discretion. However, it’s the coach’s responsibility to ensure that each athlete can safely and consistently perform the skill without risk of injury or potential deductions. If you’re confident in their ability to execute the skills safely, then they are allowed.
How are teams divided into small and large divisions?
We generally consider teams with 15 or fewer athletes as "small", but divisions are based on the number of teams entered in each category. If there are three or fewer teams in a category, they may be combined (regardless of size) to ensure a fair and competitive experience. Because of this, a team might compete as "small" in one category and "large" in another. We use our best judgement to keep things balanced and competitive across the board.
How do I connect my music and who stops/starts it?
Our DJ will have connectors available for both iPhone and Android phones, so you do not need to bring any additional connectors for your music. It is the responsibility of the team coach to start and stop the music during the performance. We recommend that one coach manages the music while another coach is positioned in front of the mat to assist the team. Please ensure that your phone is set to airplane mode to prevent any interruptions during the performance.
Where can I pick up our team and individual score sheets?
Coaches can pick up team and individual score sheets at the tabulation table immediately following the awards ceremony .
What happens if there is an injury or episode during our performance?
In the event an athlete experiences an injury or medical episode during your performance, the team's coach(es) will be responsible for assessing the situation and ensuring the athlete's safety.
If the performance must be stopped, the athlete will safely exit the floor before the routine continues. At that point, the team may choose to re-perform immediately (if ready) or move to the end of the event schedule to perform again. Any deductions incurred prior to the stoppage will remain in place. Judging will resume from the point where the routine was interrupted, and scores from the completed portion of the performance will stand as recorded.
